Locations Guaranteed to give you a White Christmas

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas this year? Well, we’ve certainly had that dream before. So, we’ve rounded up a short list of places you can visit this Christmas to give you that official winter vibe – get those thermals from storage, and pop on the kettle.

The Budget:

Look no further than Lithuania. We are heading there next weekend – and we cannot wait. What does Lithuania have to offer the budget traveller? Well, aside from very cheap flights (£30 return from Birmingham UK Airport), it also has some beautiful and very reasonable Airbnb properties to rent. Perfect for a budget weekend away. Christmas is high on the list in Lithuania, with Christmas eve being one of the most important days. We are excited about seeing SNOW, first of all – but, the capital Vilinus also has some excellent (and numerous) Christmas markets, where you can enjoy the usual mulled wine, and pick up some traditional gifts for your family and friends back home. Looking for a more individual experience? Try an Igloo bar! Photos of us enjoying one of these to follow…

The Mid-Range:

Edinburgh – closer to the UK than Lithuania, but more expensive. However, with its medieval castle, stunning scenery, and the fact that it will most likely snow, you can get a white Christmas as a price that isn’t cheap, but doesn’t stretch so far as to be ridiculous. Flights are around £70 upwards – so book early to get the best price. You can also get a train for around £100.

Edinburgh does Christmas well – with a market voted best in the UK last year. If you’re looking for an easily accessible weekend of Christmas fun – this could be it!

The Fancy:

Les Gets, France, will provide you with snow to ski on, mountains to glide over, and some of the best chalets around. We were lucky enough to experience a catered chalet with our family a couple of years ago, over the Christmas period. It was amazing. We went skiing every day (even Christmas day!), we ate incredible food, sat in front of roaring fires, and enjoyed gin around the Christmas tree. Daniel is a confident skier, and I’m not – but would I do it again? In a heartbeat. The views around Les Gets are stunning, but you also have Morzine and other gorgeous places to visit. Don’t miss Christmas eve in the centre of Les Gets, when Santa Clauses ski down the mountains and fireworks light up the sky. For an all in week long Christmas trip – including flights, the catered chalet, ski passes, ski lessons, everything you can think of – we’re talking a price of around £10,000. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
